Cyberspace - Connection with Metaverse
The term "Metaverse" is not new. Back in 1992, the novel by Neal Stephenson, used the term Metaverse where the main character was a normal pizza delivery boy in his real world but a superhero in the virtual world. That virtual world is called the Metaverse.
Metaverse has a lot of sense in its name. It's actually a virtual world where virtual reality and augmented reality go hand in hand in an electronic world where every object is created by graphics, simulation, and imagination. People can act as players in that virtual world, where their avatars can take place to do digital works.
The term "Metaverse" was a fictional concept then, but now it's pretty actual and going to be our reality soon. Technology is expanding exponentially, fiction is becoming reality and reality becomes a mixture of real-unreal space.
Put on your VR goggle and gear up the VR earphone and you're welcome too in the VR world. Create your digital world through your imagination, and this imaginary world is your Metaverse.
What is Cyberspace by the way?
If you watch science fiction movies or if you play fictional video games then you definitely heard of the term - "Cyberspace". Now, let me guess you haven't heard it before. Cyberspace is the electronic world where every object is created digitally with electronics. You can think of it as an electronic city. It's not made of physical matters, rather a summation of bits, patterns, pixels, graphics created on hardware, chips, and boards.
Now this cyberspace in sci-fi films is kinda extra fictional like where humans, robots, humanoids are walking, working, and living altogether. But, yet that is not operational now in our reality, maybe that also can be achieved with technology someday.
If we humans live our lives in metaverse using AR, VR materials then it could be achieved if we force humanoids and robots to do similar like us, I mean, wearing them AR-VR goggles and earphones. Their artificial intelligence system and neural systems will do the rest.
So here you get the connection between Cyberspace and Metaverse. Both eventually related to each other very much. When the Metaverse will start its breathing in the world, it will not take a long time to create our very own cyberspace also. Imagine a world of 3D digital buildings, 3D digital trees, forests, highways, and 3D cars where human avatars are walking, running with the bot avatars, creating, working with each other helping each other simultaneously. You can see digital cars are flying carrying human avatars and driving by any humanoid avatar, you can't expect more, that's the Cyberspace we saw and we thrive to get.
How Technology is Approaching?
Well, already various world popular tech companies started doing projects on creating their own Metaverse systems. The tech giants like Google, Apple, or graphics companies like Nvidia, Adobe, or gaming companies like Roblox, Niantic, Epic games are working parallelly to achieve this technology.
Social media giant like Facebook is also planning to get their hands wet in this technology. In a recent press meet the Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced they're planning to transform the social media company into a Metaverse company. So, you can think the perspective like your metaverse will be 'facebookify' and you'll be able to interact with unknown persons in a whole new way.
How This Cyberspace Will Help Us?
Actually, the idea behind this metaverse or future cyberspace is to get a shared and persistent, three-dimensional digital environment where people can work remotely, enjoy remotely and earn knowledge remotely. Human beings are way better than just looking into these glowy rectangular glasses [smartphones], they deserve more than just importing-exporting pieces of knowledge via textual, imagery, and video basis.
"Embodied Internet" will help us to work more efficiently and effectively, learn more easily and practically. Already an instance we get from the conference of the Facebook employees with their Oculus Quest 2 device. There are many more instances available like you can see the jellyfish play by Microsoft employees or Fortnight games, and so on.
So now the connection between Cyberspace and Metaverse is been known, the only matter is to wait for them to come into our lives regularly. The day is not so far. The way Techies are working on it, it seems they'll launch the technology sooner, the culprit will be mankind not getting savvy with it relative to that pace. What do you think?
